Boxwell's Box

Boxwell’s Box is a Multi-Cache located along the beach in Orange CT, Parking is very close to stage one where you have to do a little math, I am embarrassed to say I did it wrong the first time and ended looking for stage-2 on a side street. After figuring out the math the correct way, stage two and the final are very close to each other.

Family Fun Criters

"Family Fun Critters" is a four stage milti located in Guilford, CT right on Rt 77. The entrance to the trail is located at Dudley Farm. A nice short walk thru the woods, about 1.5 miles round trip, with a great view at the final. The stages have a great theme also which makes it fun. Found it with Lynn.

My Tenth Cache

"My Tenth Cache" is a puzzle cache with a twist. There are ten puzzles with results to ten different locations plus the posted cords so that makes eleven places you can look or...there is an easier way. Nine out of the ten puzzles has a key word in it leaving one puzzle without it, find the puzzle with the missing key word and that is the puzzle with the correct cords. I looked for the missing key word for about one hour then it just jumped out and I saw it, or rather did not see it. I had my son Michael help me figure out the cords and the next day I went searching and sure enough that's where it was. I was second to find! I also got our first Geocoin but that is another blog.

Roundabout

Roundabout is a cache located on a little beach in Orange, CT.   It has a small parking lot and a couple of benches to sit and watch the ocean or look for the cache.  The first time I was here I could not find the cache and after reading the logs, sometimes there are good tips in the logs, I saw some people had to dig for the cache to find it.  I stopped by again and used Google Maps Mobile to locate GZ and I dug in the sand and there it was.  This is not allowed for a cache, you are not allowed to bury it but I don't think it started out that way but as least it can still be found.

Merritt Madness

"Merritt Madness" is located on the Merritt Parkway in a Park and Ride.  The place is a mess, garbage everywhere in the woods.  The cache is in good shape but the area needs some work. I would recommend if you go after this one, walk on the road because the cache is located right near the street and skip all the mess.

On Our Way To The Car Show

"On Our Way To The Car Show" - This cache was set back on a trail about .14 miles. Parking is on the side of the road between two guard rails which I did not like and there is a big lip when you pull in so your car bottoms out, thats always nice.  The cache was found by some kids who did not take the cache but drew in the log book.  At least they left the cache there.

BlackstarNavigation 1.6.3 Beta

The new release of Blackstarnavigation 1.6.3 Beta is out with some nice new features.
current changes in beta:
* multiple track bug fix.
* text display of direction. change from compass to text with sideways scroll
* number of satellites locked display. But does not display until enough satellites are locked to create a location. I was hoping to display the number while still acquiring a lock, but I am not sure that will be possible.
customizable fonts for each screen
* fixed a bug in gps import if there is a line feed at the beginning or end of a geocaching log.
* fixed some formatting of gpx file to be able to import into gsak.
* fixed bug which prevented bcaching userids with embedded spaces in name from connecting to bcaching
* added date timestamp to waypoint
* Track in process display
* added Nautical Miles to units
* opened the file filter to allow gpx.rem and loc.rem files to be selected for importing
* added Cardinal direction (N/S/E/W) to units

You can download it OTA here. Blackstarnavigation 1.6.3 Beta
